Setting up a regular donation to a charity is a great way to do good, but you may also want to do something that makes you feel like you are making change happen each day. Here are a few ways to make little but effective change every day:
Make your coffee at home
Buying Fairtrade beans and making coffee at home to drink on your way into work won’t only save you money in the long run but also provides a better deal to farmers so that they can invest more into their work and improve their communities.
Redirect that daily coffee fund
Use that change you saved from your at-home coffee brew for good; give a few of pounds to a charity of your choice. Giving that money to a charity supporting the homeless, like Crisis, can even help them to get a hot drink of their own.
Guilt-free shopping spree
Pop into a charity shop, they’re all over the high street. Buy a book, pick up a new top, even donate that jacket you haven’t worn in two years and save a couple of quid knowing that your money is doing some good.
Some retailers and restaurants give customers the option to donate a few pennies or round up their transaction at the card machine. Try it next time because, really, are you really going to miss 5p?
Brag about it
Doing good gives you gloating rights so gloat away! Plus telling others about good things you do encourages them to do good too, so pass it on.
