Technology is transforming our power to change the world from the comfort of our own living room, and apps are a huge part of that.
Now, from our own sofas, we can help change things that are the other side of the world from us.
The app Share The Meal is the world’s first app against global hunger.
It’s an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger.
Every year, the WFP reaches 80 million people with food assistance in around 80 countries, and, thanks to this app, you can help support their work.
One in nine people in the world don’t get enough food to lead an active and healthy life. In fact, hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide – greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
But the good news is that hunger is entirely solvable. And it costs just 39p to feed one child for a whole day.
How you can help
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and with a tap on your smartphone you can start sharing the meal! It really is as easy as that.
Already 13,603,772 meals have been shared. Join their ranks and help that number grow.
